Toerisme gerelateerde ondernemingen die geen meer levensvatbare en ecologische producten ontwikkelen, worden geconfronteerd met het vooruitzicht van negatieve publiciteit<\/strong>, de voorzitter van Attent hoteliers<\/strong>, zei Graham Miller dinsdag op het Delphi Economic Forum VI in Athene.<\/p>\n

Tijdens een paneldiscussie over \u201cMilieuvriendelijk Griekenland: van Griekenland een topbestemming voor duurzaam toerisme maken<\/strong>\u201d, zei Graham Miller dat investeringen in besparing op energie en water niet per se duur zijn. Hij noemde als voorbeeld sensoren in een hotelkamer die de stroom uitzetten en maar liefst 15 pct van de energiekosten voor een eenpersoonskamer besparen.<\/p>\n

De pandemie van het coronavirus heeft van mensen slimmere reizigers gemaakt<\/strong>, op zoek naar bestemmingen die het milieu respecteren, Randy Durband, CEO van de Global Sustainable Tourism Council<\/strong> (GSTC) zei op het panel. Hoewel uit gegevens blijkt dat reizigers niet veel vragen stellen voordat ze een hotel boeken, zijn ze blij als ze zien dat het goede milieupraktijken volgt, vooral als ze jonger zijn dan 35 jaar.<\/p>\n

Zoals Eleni Andreadis, directeur Duurzaamheid bij Sani-Ikos opmerkte, winstgevend zijn en 'groene praktijken' volgen is niet onverenigbaar<\/strong>, en zei dat alle hotels in haar groep dit volgden, terwijl \u00e9\u00e9n ook plastic vrij<\/strong>. Het doel is om alle hotels in de groep te veranderen in afvalvrije hotels<\/strong>, die een goede opleiding van het personeel nodig heeft, voegde ze eraan toe.<\/p>\n

Tijdens het panel spraken ook Gregory Miller, uitvoerend directeur van de Centrum voor Verantwoord Reizen<\/strong> (CREST), en CEO van Travel Foundation Jeremy Sampson.
